The Future of Work Spaces is all About Experiences

A successful post-pandemic workspace has to balance the needs of many people who want to work from different spaces. It’s not going to be easy to make it work, but the solution involves human-centered design thinking and technology. And it will be up to us—AV, UCC and digital signage technologists and designers to figure it out.

Installation Issues for Converged AVIT Systems

Installation Issues for Converged AVIT Systems The success of a converged AV/IT system is dependent on a properly installed and tested structured cabling system. As more and more audiovisual integrators are offering IT infrastructure installation to their clients, it is mandatory that they have an understanding of the hardware and test procedures required. This seminar explores the hardware and installation equipment necessary to install and terminate UTP cabling, including punch blocks on patchbays and wallplates, and RJ-45 connectors on cabling. Structured cable installation issues such as cable pathways, signal interference, and distance limitations are covered. Finally, test parameters and equipment including cabling verification testing and network certification testing are demonstrated.

An AV-Focused Network Security Class from an Actual Cyber Security Expert

Today it’s hard to go a day without hearing about network security issues. Even the most secure companies Target, Tesla, Facebook have recently had breaches. As AV professionals, network security knowledge is a must and we have to learn how to specify, sell and integrate networked-AV gear that’s safe from cyber-security threats. Led by an actual cyber-security expert Art Ehuan, the Vice President Palo Alto Networks and current cyber-security advisor of the US Department of State, this session will help you understand everything you need to know about making sure AV gear isn’t a security ‘hole’ in the network of the clients you server. Art not only provides cybersecurity advisory services to the Board of Directors (BoD), Chief Information Security Officers (CISO), Chief Risk Officers (CRO) and senior management of risk mitigation, he is also involved in post-cyber hacking activities to fix network holes going forward. And, thanks to a personal relationship with rAVe’s own Gary Kayye, he’s delivering a real-world network security class to AV professionals, exclusively at the Almo E4.

Conducting a needs analysis

If you don’t understand what the client is trying to do, the design may not be the right one. Forget the equipment and ask about the process. We’ll look at the proper way to approach an audiovisual project.
