1.0 CTS   |  1.0 CTS-D   |. 1.0 CTS-I

Regency Ballroom – Mainstage

Gary Kayye | Creative Director: THE rAVe Agency, 3-Time Award-Winning Speaker

There are two things you can say about a Gary Kayye Keynote. First, he’s entertaining. Second, He’s been right in predicting tech trends for more than two decades – many of them he first debuted with us during former E4 Experiences, too. But, for 2024, he’s going to do something different. In addition to talking about four tech trends we all need to watch in 2024, he’s going to dissect nine new products and tell you why they are significant and why you should be integrating them into virtually every system you design and build.

Who makes these product and why does he think they are game-changers? Well, at this year’s E4 Experience, you’ll want to arrive early and grab a front row seat when his keynote starts as some of the products he will demo for you, live, on stage. And, he’ll even allow you to participate – that means agree OR disagree!

The E4 Experiences’ first, ever, interactive keynote will leave you not only excited to hit the show floor and see each of the products in action but, the five tech trends will drive profitability and innovation in the AV, UCC and Digital Signage industries for the rest of 2024 and well in 2025!

Being Smart About Smart Buildings

11:30AM – 12:30PM
1.0 CTS
Regency Ballroom – Mainstage

Gary Kayye | Creative Director: THE rAVe Agency, 3-Time Award-Winning Speaker

The concept of Smart Buildings is not new. For over two dozen years, the construction design and management industries have been implementing the standards of Building Information Modeling and making each building “smarter” than the next. Gone are the days with manual security systems, manual fire control systems, camera-less buildings or floors and nowadays everything is connected to some sort of networked backbone. And, for good reason.

The average 20-story besieging can save well over $800,000 a year in HVAC, security and power costs by going “smart.” But, it’s only been recent that BIM has been implemented in the world of AV. We’ve always been an afterthought. But, now, we are part of the model — our CAD drawings can be implemented right in to the building drawings as a layer of the original design — even before construction.

That’s key as, if you’re an integrator, you can get in on the ground floor of a building — literally. Meaning, you can be specified to be the AV contractor before the building is ever built by being the system designer that provides systems and sight-line drawings to the general contractor before construction starts. You’re drawings will be a layer of the overall system. Solidifying you as part of the integrated design and installation of everything AV.

But, this means you, the integrator, has to actually design the room well in advance of it ever being built. In addition, the design has to include everything — not just a list of AV gear. It has to include 3D drawings of where each and every piece of AV gear (and cable) goes — yes, every single piece. This takes a special type of AV designer — and one with way more skills than just CAD.

Modern Meeting Room Design

12:45 – 1:45PM
1.0 CTS , 1.0 CTS-D
Lake Fairfax B – Training Room 2

Tom Kehr | CTS-D, CTS-I, Network+, LEED Green Associate, ISF-C, ATD Master Trainer

Is the new meeting room merely a revamped version of the old space only now with more “technology stuff”?  Throughout this session, we’ll look at what’s required to give the technology the best opportunity to do what it’s supposed to do – help people communicate with one another.  Our goal is to leverage the available resources to truly begin building high performance rooms that foster connections in the modern workspace.

Basic Acoustics for Meeting Rooms

3:15 – 4:15PM
1.0 CTS
Lake Fairfax B – Training Room 2

Tom Kehr | CTS-D, CTS-I, Network+, LEED Green Associate, ISF-C, ATD Master Trainer

We’ll focus on two main issues: Acoustics and Background Noise.  Why does this room sound the way it does?  Why do you like certain rooms and not others?  Why does communication seem easier in some rooms?  Each room has a unique “sound” to it.  Learn why they sound the way they do and what you might be able to do about it.  Meeting rooms are for communicating.  Learn how to remove the barriers and create a comfortable space for people to exchange ideas.

An AV Pro’s Guide to Everything Wireless

3:15 – 4:15PM
1.0 CTS
Lake Fairfax A – Training Room 1

Joe Cornwall | CTS-D, CTS-I

Once upon a time video meant television, and television meant antennae for transmitting and receiving content. Today we do many things wirelessly, but for the typical AV professional familiarity with RF is outside the scope of our day-to-day endeavors. This course will help address this important, but often overlooked AV system design element.

We’ll look at the latest Bluetooth (5.3LE), WiFi (802.11be) and cellular connectivity, terrestrial and satellite broadcasting. Along the way we’ll learn how these important communication pathways have evolved, how they continue to change, and how they will be bridged to lend ever greater performance, dependability and flexibility to AV system design.

  • Participants will learn about the electromagnetic spectrum, frequency allocation and licensing, ISM bands and the future of RF.
  • Participants will learn about Bluetooth technology and how BT 5.0, 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3 have taken Bluetooth from a method for connecting HID peripherals to a computer to a fully functional, secure channel that can support hundreds of devices over surprising distances (up to 300m).
  • Participants will learn about 802.11ax and 802.11af including WiFi 6, 6E and 7 connectivity and the impact on AV system design.

What people are saying

“I’ve been in the industry for nine months now. As a newcomer at the E4 Experience, I was able to focus on learning more about Exertis Almo and all of its manufacturing partners. It was so helpful to be able to walk around the show floor, ask questions and have good conversations. There’s no comparison to seeing the products in use. It was a very effective experience for me.”

Arlette White
HA Design Group LLC

“I like attending the E4 Experience in D.C. because it brings a smaller, more intimate convention close to home. I can get the best one-on-one time with vendors on the show floor and in the classroom settings. I especially like how the manufacturers gear products more towards collaboration for the region. I also like the networking factor and having the time to talk about what’s coming out and where the future of AV is heading.”

Marcus Yarborough
ACP Creative IT

“Exertis Almo pays attention as much to vendors as attendees, which means we don’t have to worry about a lot of things. The flow is great. The attendees are intentional so the sessions are deep and targeted. The E4 Experience brings the best-of-the-best wherever it is.”

Chrissy Sara

"Having been to previous E4 Experiences, I specifically came because I'm looking for the best interactive digital whiteboard solution for multiple conference rooms for one of my clients and I knew there would be a lot of options to explore. We regularly work with many of the exhibitors and I found three great possibilities -- all the best vendors that make interactive whiteboards are here. I didn't go to NAB and I'm not going to InfoComm (wrong side of the country). The E4 Experience has what I need in terms of products and information. I went to the keynote but my focus has been on talking to all the people available today."
